Stay tuned to my middle school play page for the 2016-2017 play announcement! Information is coming soon!!
My home page has been updated with some end of the year information regarding final exams and last day information. All of my students have been working really hard to keep up with the end of the year demands! I can't believe how fast the year went. I have enjoyed working with these wonderful students and I am so proud of all they have accomplished. Thank you to the parents for their support.
Stay tuned for upcoming blog posts next year. Have a happy and safe summer! We are just about halfway through March! Wow! It seems like just yesterday I was preparing for a new school year.
In ELA we have started a new novel called The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. We began with an introduction about the author. He stated that he enjoys writing children's books to "warp young peoples minds." We all thought that was pretty funny. We did a book study using some of the picture books Neil Gaiman has written. They were pretty strange. In 6th grade basic skills math, we have been working on ratios and rates. Everyone has been doing very well. We are coming up on a quiz on rates. It will most likely next Thursday. Annual reviews are coming up quickly. Be on the look out for draft IEP's in the mail. I will be calling home this week to review programming and to see if there are any items you would likes to be discussed at the meetings. Enjoy the rest of the weekend! Monday will be here soon! Spirit Week 2015 came to an end today with everyone wearing their maroon and white. The week ended with the pep rally and dances at the middle and high schools. It was so nice to be able to head back to school this afternoon with my own children and see the kids enjoying the soccer and volleyball games, the rock climbing wall, and the excitement before the dance started. My boys got to meet several of my sixth and seventh graders while wandering around tonight. They were so happy to meet some of the kids mommy teaches. A super big thank you to Mrs. Lochner and student council to continuing to put on an awesome week!!
I can't believe how fast the first month of school has flown by! Both my sixth and seventh graders are getting into the swing of things and getting into the routine. We are at the end of Spirit Week. Tomorrow is spirit day so wear your maroon and white!
Our ELA class is in the middle of reading Bud, not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis and have laughed out loud at least once a day. They are studying hyperbole and continuing their word study with the word of the week. They have been busy with the word "create" this week. In math, the sixth graders have begun learning the concept of absolute value. While this concept has a fancy name it is an easier concept. Absolute value is the distance a number is from 0 and is always positive. We are coming up on our first test in the next week! Students set their first goals today for Class Dojo. Many of them challenged themselves to score 100%!! If parents would like access to our dojo, please contact me. Invitations were sent home last week. If you did not receive an invitation please let me know.

Seventh graders-don't forget to have your science contracts signed. Sixth graders-don't forget to have your art forms signed. Everyone had their objects for science today...Great job! Tomorrow is Spirit Day! Wear your maroon and white! Phew...I don't know about anyone else but I am beat!! A busy but good day in the middle school. Students were great with their lockers and finding their classes. The 6th graders looked confident and the seventh graders were more at home. We had a busy day of listening and some paperwork went home.
Sixth graders need to bring in 3-5 items that they care share in class for tomorrow. They should not be too large, they should be able to fit in a small paper lunch bag or a grocery store bag. They also have my math syllabus and a letter from the sixth grade team. Looking forward to a great year! This is my first blog! I am hoping that my website will be helpful to my students and parents. Look around and if there is something you can't find...let me know.
