Spirit Week 2015 came to an end today with everyone wearing their maroon and white. The week ended with the pep rally and dances at the middle and high schools. It was so nice to be able to head back to school this afternoon with my own children and see the kids enjoying the soccer and volleyball games, the rock climbing wall, and the excitement before the dance started. My boys got to meet several of my sixth and seventh graders while wandering around tonight. They were so happy to meet some of the kids mommy teaches. A super big thank you to Mrs. Lochner and student council to continuing to put on an awesome week!!
I can't believe how fast the first month of school has flown by! Both my sixth and seventh graders are getting into the swing of things and getting into the routine. We are at the end of Spirit Week. Tomorrow is spirit day so wear your maroon and white!
Our ELA class is in the middle of reading Bud, not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis and have laughed out loud at least once a day. They are studying hyperbole and continuing their word study with the word of the week. They have been busy with the word "create" this week. In math, the sixth graders have begun learning the concept of absolute value. While this concept has a fancy name it is an easier concept. Absolute value is the distance a number is from 0 and is always positive. We are coming up on our first test in the next week! |
