I can't believe how fast the first month of school has flown by! Both my sixth and seventh graders are getting into the swing of things and getting into the routine. We are at the end of Spirit Week. Tomorrow is spirit day so wear your maroon and white!
Our ELA class is in the middle of reading Bud, not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis and have laughed out loud at least once a day. They are studying hyperbole and continuing their word study with the word of the week. They have been busy with the word "create" this week.
In math, the sixth graders have begun learning the concept of absolute value. While this concept has a fancy name it is an easier concept. Absolute value is the distance a number is from 0 and is always positive. We are coming up on our first test in the next week!
